Codex III The Tower is an exploration of concepts of time, place, matter, religion and ritual, challenging the utopian dream: the floating of architectural form, the elimination of gravity as the embodiment of earthly bonds.
Eternal house, Etemenanki, cathedral of the vertical city, magic totem. The tower as a sequestered space or world mountain, a symbol of philosophical thought and the graduated spiritual ascent of humankind. Towers can be the fulfilment of the Babylonian promise; the realization of both its technical enigma and its utopian-cosmopolitan objective. No wonder that Le Corbusier and Salvador Dali saw the resurrection of the Egyptian pyramids and the city of Babel in the skyscraper landscape of New York.
